Naplan 2014

All students have received their Naplan results and whilst these tests always present a strong educational debate there is value in them for individual students. The value comes in the individual information it provides for students and their parents.

As a parent, the College encourages you to talk to your child about the Naplan report and to consider areas of strength and weakness. To assist you in your understanding Mr. Armitage prepared a 20-minute video that takes you through how to make sense of the report. This link will take you to the youtube page where you can view the video: http://youtu.be/DNcs-7feLd8

Whilst Naplan gives us some very important individual data it also gives our College an indication of how we are performing against both national and state standards. We are very satisfied to that in all domains in Year 7 Gilroy Catholic College was above both state and national averages. This was also true in most domains in Year 9 but there is an indication that we have some greater work to do in certain areas.

Whilst we are happy with both the individual results and the results of both cohorts we are still actively looking at strategies to implement to find further improvement. All staff have access to the specific data of all students in their classes and are currently creating specific strategies to meet the needs of each individual in their class. Whilst some students will be excited about their results it is important to note that all students need to strive for continual improvement.

The tables below celebrate the individual achievements of students who either achieved substantial growth from their previous Naplan test and those that achieved our highest results. Congratulations to all students on their efforts in this year’s Naplan tests!
